The Challenge

Noon Academy — the social learning platform that brings together students and teachers in interactive live classes — was scaling its Pakistan operations and needed to dramatically grow its registered student base. The EdTech acquisition challenge is distinct from consumer app acquisition: the target audience (students aged 14–22) has specific device usage patterns, is heavily concentrated on specific social platforms (TikTok, YouTube, Instagram), and makes decisions that are influenced by peer behaviour rather than individual utility calculations.

Pakistan's EdTech market was attracting significant investment and multiple competitors — local platforms like Sabaq and international players like Unacademy were competing for the same student audience. Noon Academy's competitive advantage was its social learning model (studying together, not just watching recorded lectures) — but this advantage needed to be communicated in a way that resonated with Pakistani students who had deeply ingrained expectations about what 'online education' looked like.

The sign-up funnel had an additional complexity: Pakistani parents are significant influencers in education decisions for the 14–18 age group. A campaign that reached only students without building parental confidence would generate sign-ups but not sustained engagement. Noon Academy needed both student excitement and parental validation.

The Solution

Happy Ads built a dual-audience acquisition strategy for Noon Academy: a student-facing campaign running on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube with peer-social creative (showing students studying together, helping each other, achieving results), and a parent-facing campaign running on Facebook and programmatic display with credibility-led creative (teacher qualifications, platform safety, exam result outcomes).

The student creative was built around Noon Academy's social dimension — the experience of studying with friends and classmates online, not alone in front of a screen. Pakistani students' strong social orientation and peer influence made this the most motivating creative angle: signing up for Noon Academy was positioned as something cool students did together, not a solitary educational tool. Peer endorsement creative (students recommending Noon Academy to friends) consistently outperformed product-feature creative in A/B testing.

The parent creative ran during after-school and evening hours when parents were most likely to be reviewing educational options for their children. This campaign highlighted Noon Academy's subject coverage (O/A Levels, Matric, FSc), teacher credentials, and measurable exam preparation outcomes. The two-audience approach created a coordinated household influence dynamic: students excited about the social learning experience, parents convinced by the academic credentials.

Key Insights

01

EdTech Acquisition in Pakistan Requires Two Simultaneous Campaigns: One for Students, One for Parents

207% Delivery at Zero Extra Cost — Why In-Game Overdelivers

For Pakistani students aged 14–18, the decision to use an education platform is rarely made unilaterally. Parents are gatekeepers — they control the family's educational investments and have significant influence over which platforms their children use. EdTech campaigns that target only students produce sign-ups that don't convert to sustained engagement because parental support isn't there. Happy Ads' dual-audience approach for Noon Academy aligned student excitement with parental confidence — producing the household-level commitment that drives genuine platform adoption.

02

Social Learning Creative Must Show Study Groups, Not Solo Students

97.65% Viewability — The Format Standard Programmatic Can't Touch

Pakistan's education culture is deeply social: students study together, share notes, help each other through difficult concepts. Noon Academy's social learning model — designed around exactly this collaborative dynamic — resonates most strongly when creative shows students experiencing it together, not using the app in isolation. The highest-converting Noon Academy creative showed groups of students in live sessions, laughing, helping each other, celebrating correct answers. The product is social. The creative must be too.

03

100,000 Sign-Ups Is the Scale That Makes EdTech Economics Work

3.9× Frequency Is the Science of Brand Memory, Not Just Reach

EdTech platforms have high fixed costs (content production, teacher acquisition, platform development) and low marginal costs per student. The unit economics only work at scale. 100,000 sign-ups means a student base large enough for Noon Academy to sustain subject coverage, keep teacher supply high, and generate the active classroom sizes that make live sessions engaging. Happy Ads' acquisition campaign wasn't just a marketing exercise — it was the growth investment that made Noon Academy's educational model viable at Pakistan scale.
